Prolonged firings leave Ghumdhum border residents in fear

Residents say that they are unable to sleep at night out of fear

Firing is taking place inside Myanmar across the Baishfandri border in Ghumdhum Union of Naikhongchhari in Bandarban. And the sound of these bullets is echoing in the ears of the residents living in the Baishfadi border area.

Residents reported hearing 15 mortar shells consecutively since early Friday morning.
Bangladeshi residents Hafeez Ahmed, Abdur Rahim, and Juhura Begum claimed to have slept till 1 am on Thursday while living close to the 39 pillars.
However, despite not hearing any gunfire, they were awakened by heavy gunfire at around 6:30 on Friday morning.

Salma Ferdous, executive officer of Naikhongchhari, confirmed the claim and stated that BGB is constantly on alert in border regions.
