14 people pushed through Darshana border

Commander of Chuadanga-6 BGB said that verification is underway regarding them

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed 14 Indian people, including women, men and children, into Bangladesh through the Darshana border in Chuadanga.

Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan, (commander of Chuadanga-6 BGB), confirmed this information to Dhaka Tribune on Saturday afternoon.

Lt Col Nazmul Hasan said that attempts were made to push them through the Nimtali area since Tuesday. Later on Friday evening, 14 Indian women, men, and children were pushed through the Darshana border.

He said, Initially, our local people gave them food and shelter. Now they are in the custody of the BGB. Many are sick. They are being treated.

He said that verification is underway regarding them. He also said that necessary decisions will be taken regarding the people who were pushed in after the verification and legal process is completed.

The BGB said that all those who were pushed are non-Bengali Muslims. They identified themselves as residents of the Indian state of Odisha.

Earlier, on the evening of Friday, they were pushed into Bangladesh through a point on the Darshana border. Later, when they reached Darshana Bazar area, the matter came to light at night. Among the 14 people who were pushed in, there are six women, six men and two children.

The people who came through are: Sheikh Jabbar, son of Harun Aur Rashid, Hakim Sheikh, Sheikh Ukil, Sheikh Bunty, son of Sheikh Abdur Jabbar, from Satkura Dhanipur area of Jagsingh district, Odisha state, India. Sheikh Raja, Sheikh Jabbar's wife Alkuni Bibi, Sheikh Ukil's wife Sagerah Bibi, daughter Shakila, Sheikh Raja's wife Mehrun Bibi, daughter Nasrin, sons Rohit, Tawhid, Sheikh Hakim's wife Shamsheri Bibi and Sheikh Hossain's wife Gulshan Bibi.
