A 52-year-old woman from Khulna, who had been missing since August 27, was found alive in Faridpur, police said.
A team of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) rescued her alive from Boalmari village of Faridpur at around 11:15pm on Saturday.
KMP Deputy Commissioner (North) Molla Jahangir Hossain confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
A team led by Assistant Police Commissioner Abdur Rahman conducted a raid in that village after receiving information that Rahima was hiding there, he mentioned.
“They are now on their way to Khulna. Details will be given when they reach,” the officer added.
Meanwhile, SI Lutful Haider of Daulatpur police station said that Rahima voluntarily took refuge in that village.
However, on Thursday, Rahima’s daughter, claimed that she had found her mother’s body in Mymensingh.
"I have just found my mother's body," this is what Maryam Mannan, daughter of Rahima Begum, wrote in a Facebook post.
However, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Khulna's Daulatpur police station and Mymensingh police could not confirm the matter.
The PBI is investigating the case filed over the woman's disappearance, UNB reported.
Khulna Superintendent of Police Syed Mushfiqur Rahman said the investigation officer of the case spoke to Maryam.
She told them that her mother's body was recovered from the Phulpur area of Mymensingh.
On August 27, Rahima went missing after she had stepped out to fetch water near her home in the Banikpara area around 10pm. Her children found her sandals, scarf and the pitcher she was carrying from the spot.
The family first filed a complaint with the police, based on which an FIR was lodged by the cops against some people.
On September 13, after Rahima remained missing for 17 days and police failed to find her, her younger daughter Aduri Akter appealed to the Khulna court to transfer the case to the PBI, said Rahima's elder daughter Mariyam Mannan.
