State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali said Osmani International Airport will resume its flight operations soon, if there is no problem with the runway lights and if it stops raining.

The minister made the remarks while talking to reporters after visiting Sylhet Osmani International Airport with Civil Aviation Acting Chairman Air Commodore Sadikur Rahman Chowdhury on Monday.

The lighting system in the area of the airport’s runway that remained under water due to flooding in the area, has been tested. If runway lights work properly and the rain stops in the upcoming days, the airport will start its operation, he said.

“Considering the security purpose of the passengers only, flight operations at the airport remained suspended,” he added.

However, a team of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has already reached to check the overall condition. After getting a green signal from the team, the airport will be opened to flights, he concluded.
