Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) has completed the boundary demarcation of 12 new wards and the formation of three reserved wards.
According to a public notification issued on Tuesday, a total of 33 square kilometers have been added to the city corporation through the expansion. After the expansion, the total area of the city corporation now stands at 59.50 square kilometers.
Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md Mojibur Rahman said that they had excluded a union named Kuchai as there was a case pending over the same issue. “If included, Kuchai will add three more wards to the city corporation.”
He said the residents had been asked to inform the deputy commissioner, in writing, by March 8 if they had any suggestions or complaints regarding the inclusion of the areas under the SCC.
