Miscreants have hacked a man to death after cutting off one of his legs in Kanaighat Upazila of Sylhet over previous enmity centering a Facebook post.
The deceased was identified as Farid Ahmed, 30, son of Rafiq Ahmed from Khasaripara area of the upazila.
Kanaighat police station Officer-in-Charge Tajul Islam confirmed the matter.
Local people said, on Monday, Farid was riding a motorcycle on way to his home from the local kitchen market when a group of people obstructed him. They hacked Farid mercilessly with locally-made sharp weapons and left the scene after cutting off his left leg.
Farid lost a huge amount of blood and died on the spot.
Shahin Ahmed, who was with Farid at the time, was injured during the attack. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Police said that they would investigate the matter.
