A truck driver was killed in Comilla when his vehicle was hit by a covered van on Friday.
The incident was reported from the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway’s local Lalbagh road, at around 5am, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Belal Uddin Jahangir of Moynamoti Highway police station.
The deceased has been identified as Rabiul Hossain, 24, hailing from Dinajpur district.
Quoting witnesses OC Jahangir said, the Chittagong-bound truck's driver fell from the vehicle, when it was rammed by the covered van from behind. He died instantly on the spot.
Immediately following the incident, the driver of the covered van fled the scene.
“The body and the damaged vehicle were recovered and brought to the police station. Legal action is being taken in this regard,” added OC Jahangir.
