Homebound crowd enjoys smooth travels through Daulatdia terminal

Sacrificial animal-laden vehicles have successfully reached their destinations

Update : 27 Jun 2023, 01:58 PM

With Eid-ul-Azha drawing closer, hundreds of holidaymakers are flocking to the Daulatdia ferry terminal to spend their vacation with their friends and families.

Passengers said they did not face any difficulties this time like the previous years.

They said they are travelling to their hometowns this time without waiting in traffic for hours due to the opening of Padma Bridge.

Meanwhile, sacrificial animal-laden vehicles have successfully reached their destinations, including Dhaka, through the Daulatdia terminal.

On Tuesday, a considerable number of motorcycles, along with passenger vehicles, were observed crossing the Padma River through ferries.

However, due to the strong currents of the river, ferry operations on the route are experiencing some disruptions. Presently, there are 18 ferries operating on the route.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Daulatdia terminal Manager (trade) Md Salahuddin said: "The Daulatdia-Paturia route is fully prepared to ensure a smooth journey for homebound passengers during Eid. We have an ample number of ferries, and passengers and vehicles are crossing without any inconvenience. Currently, 18 small and large ferries are in operation on this route, and all four ghats are active."
