A sudden operation by a senior railway official has spoiled the adventurous tour of 165 passengers traveling from Dhaka to Rajshahi without tickets.

A total of Tk57,740 was collected from them as fines and ticket price early Friday, and deposited to the government exchequer.

Asim Kumar Talukder, the general manager of Bangladesh Railway (west zone), also confiscated cigarette packets found in possession of several passengers during the raid.

After the operation, Asim Kumar Talukdar himself confirmed this information. He said that after the start of the journey from Dhaka on Thursday night, a large crowd was seen in the train.

Learning about the rush, he started an operation to catch ticketless passengers on Friday morning. At that time, 165 passengers were identified in the train.

He also said that the cigarettes were seized to make trains smoking free as per the law.
