Four people on an autorickshaw were killed and another was injured after a truck crashed into the three-wheeler in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Saturday.
Three of the deceased are Salma Khatun, 40, Anwarul Islam, 25, and Ritu Dhar, 51. The police had yet to establish the identity of the other deceased person at the time of writing.
The in-charge of Shahpori highway police, Saiful Alam, said the truck had rammed into the autorickshaw from behind, severely injuring five people.
Four of them had died while undergoing treatment at the local upazila health complex, he added.
The fifth person, one Habibullah, is currently receiving medical care there.
The police had confiscated both vehicles involved in the accident, Ukhiya police station OC Sheikh Mohammad Ali said.
