Two fishermen died after a trawler capsized in the Bay of Bengal near Noakhali’s Hatia Upazila.
The incident was reported from the upazila’s Damar Char area around 10am on Friday, Hatia Police OC Amir Hossain told Bangla Tribune.
The deceased have been identified as Main Uddin and Md Raful.
As many as 12 fishermen have been rescued while two more --- Md Belal and Md Sharif--- are still missing.
According to Lutfullah Mujib Nishan who rescued the fishermen, the FB Siraj trawler went to the sea with 16 fishermen aboard.
They stared for Hatia last night but got caught in a storm when they reached Damar Char around 10am, he said.
A nearby trawler --- FB Yamin Chowdhury--- rescued the 12 fishermen.
The FB Siraj got stuck at an island the bodies of the two fishermen were pulled out from there.
