The families of the victims who died in the recent road crash in Mymensingh’s Trishal demanded death penalty for the truck driver who ran them over.
“I want death penalty for the driver who ran over my son Jahangir, daughter-in-law Ratna and grandchild Sanjida,” said Mostafizur Rahman, Jahangir’s father.
Jahangir, along with his pregnant wife and daughter were crossing the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on Saturday when a truck ran them over, leading to the birth of another daughter who is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mymensingh.
The truck driver, Raju Ahmed Shipon had been on the run since the incident.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained him on Monday from Dhaka’s Savar area.
Jahangir leaves behind two more children along with the newborn, according to Mostafizur Rahman.
“I need financial aid to raise the children. I don’t have the means to raise them alone,” he added.
