Homebound passengers are having to spend three times the travel time

Update : 09 Jul 2022, 12:03 PM

A nearly 30-kilometre tailback was reported from the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu highway as passengers rushed home on the day before Eid-ul-Azha.

On Saturday, the tailback trailed from the eastern end of the bridge to Tangail Sadar Upazila’s Karatia.

The traffic jam is causing great suffering for passengers, especially women and children who are having to spend three times the travel time to reach home.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Md Ataul Gani said that over 700 policemen have been deployed to keep traffic under control.

He apologized on behalf of the district administration for the traffic despite the measures undertaken.
