Mother, daughter among 3 killed in Faridpur road crashes

The victims were returning home in a van when a truck laden with cows pushed the van from behind

A mother and daughter among three were killed when they were hit by a truck loaded with cows at Boalmari in Faridpur.

Two of the deceased were identified as Subarna Biswas, 30, and her daughter Pragya, 4. They are from Tongrail village in Rupapat union of the upazila.

The accident took place around 2pm on Sunday, Boalmari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Abdul Wahab confirmed.

According to witnesses, they were returning home in a van from Sahasrail Bazar in the upazila when a truck laden with cows pushed the van from behind at the Kalimajhi intersection of the Majkandi-Bhatiapara regional highway. 

Both of them were crushed to death on the spot. The driver of the van, Sumon Kumar Biswas, 31, fell on the side of the road and was slightly injured.

“The bodies were recovered after receiving the news. Legal action is in process,” the OC said.

Meanwhile, Sajib Sheikh, 17, a construction worker, was killed and two others were injured as he lost control of his motorcycle near Syampur filling station in Sadarpur upazila headquarter.
