At least two people were seriously injured in an explosion at S Alam Power Plant in Chittagong’s Banshkhali upazila on Saturday.
The injured were identified as Shahadat Hossain, 22, and Imam Uddin, 30, of Banshkhali upazila.
The incident occurred after 3pm, said Faruk Ahmed, chief coordinator of S Alam Power Plant.
He said that Shahadat was using an electric grinder to clean the iron angle while Imam was near that area.
“It was next to a thinner paint can at the time. The cans' fire and explosion were most likely caused by a spark,” he added.
Both of them were rushed to Upazila Health Complex with injuries.
Later, the on-duty doctor sent them to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
However, no casualties were reported in the incident so far.
