At least six people including five of a family were killed and 10 others injured in a collision between a car, a truck and an autorickshaw in Kalukhali upazila of Rajbari on Wednesday.
The deceased are autorickshaw driver Nasir Mia, 35,Mosiron Bibi, 60, her daughter Marium Begum, 40, her grandchildren Yusuf Ali, 5, Nayan, 8, and Sheela, 25.
According to witnesses, the Kushtia-bound truck rammed into the autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction near the Chandpur Railgate area at around 9am. At the time, a car behind the three-wheeler also collided with the truck.'
Three people died on the spot, while four others died after being taken to a local hospital.
Pangsha highway police station OC Md Liakat Ali said the injured were receiving treatment at Kalukhali Upazila Health Complex and Rajbari Sadar Hospital.
Kalukhali police station OC Nazmul Hasan said the truck had been seized, but its driver and his assistant had managed to flee the area.
