At least five labourers have been killed and five others injured in a deadly crash between a truck and a human hauler, locally known as leguna, in Sirajganj’s Salanga.
The incident took place near Goja bridge area on Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway early Thursday.
The deceased are Mukul Hossain, 35, Monir Hossain, 34, Mokbul Hossain, 35, Abdul Halim, and Haider Ali, 40.
Hatikumrul Highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Lutfor Rahman said the human hauler carrying the labourers collided head-on with a stone-laden truck from the opposite side.
Four of the passengers of the human hauler died on the spot. Another passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Rest of the injured are receiving treatment at Sirajganj and Rajshahi hospitals.
Police seized the human hauler and the truck following the incident.
