A doctor at the Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) has started a case against two brothers for assaulting him after the death of their mother.
Intern doctor, Pritam Karmakar, filed the case against Rakibul Islam, 22, and Mustakim, 20, with Sonadanga Model police station on Monday, said investigating officer Sub-Inspector Biplob Das.
According to the case statement, Piarunnisa, 55, was admitted to the hospital on April 8, with chest pain and incomplete excretory functions.
The hospital authorities informed Piarunnisa’s family of her deteriorating health condition.
Later, in the small hours of Sunday, she died while undergoing treatment.
When the hospital authorities informed the family of her death, they verbally and physically assaulted the on-duty doctors.
At one point, Dr Manish Kanti Das fell on the floor during the fight, and Rabiul Islam allegedly hit him with a chair.
Pritam Karmakar claims that he was also hit by Rabiul when he was trying to break up the fight.

Previously, two other sons of Piarunnisa - Tarikul Islam Kabir and Saddam Hossen, were handed over to police when they visited the hospital.
KMCH authorities handed them over to the police around 3am on Sunday while refusing to hand over Piarunnisa’s body. They also beat up their father Abdur Razzak.
Md Mostakim blamed on-duty intern doctor Kamrul Hassan for his apathy regarding her treatment and became involved in verbal arguments and physical fight with him.
At this, the hospital authorities confined his two cousins, beat them up and handed them over to the police.
Regarding the case, Tarikul said: “They have already tortured us by refusing to hand over our mother’s body. My brother and I were also handed over to the police after the incident. So, filing another case against my other two brothers is saddening.”
He also mentioned that the doctors’ allegations were not true and they did not injure any doctors. They only started a fight when doctors refused to hand over the body.
