A hearing and speech impaired man was killed after being hit by a train at a level crossing in Pangsa upazila of Rajbari on Wednesday morning.
The deceased is Monirul Islam, 35, a rickshaw-van puller by profession.
A witness, China Khatun, said she had alerted Monirul to the oncoming train but he had not paid her any heed. “I found out later that he was speech and hearing impaired.”
Then the Rajshahi-bound Bongomata Express hit and dragged his rickshaw-van for some distance, killing him on the spot, she added.
Police would take action on the basis of the findings of their inquiry into the matter, said Rajbari railway police station OC Masudul Alam.
