Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested a man from Sreepur Upazila of Magura over the murder of a schoolgirl after rape.
The arrestee is Hasan Sheikh, 23, a three-wheeler driver and son of Fazlu Sheikh of Hatshrikol village of the upazila.
Sukdev Roy, officer-in-charge of Sreepur police station, at a press conference said that the arrestee had confessed to raping the girl before the murder. “It was preplanned,” he said.
The girl, 12, was found dead on the banks of the Kumar River near her residence in the same village on Friday.
A case was filed with Sreepur police station in this regard.
