The Chittagong University authorities have suspended two employees including the personal assistant to the VC following the leak of some phone conversations hinting at their involvement in irregularities in teacher recruitment.
Professor SM Monirul Hasan, the registrar at the university, confirmed the matter on Wednesday.
He said that the personal assistant to the VC, Khaled Misbahul Mokar, and another employee named Ahmed Hossain were suspended as an investigation was underway.
The irregularities came to light after some phone conversations relating to teachers’ recruitment for the Department of Persian Language and Literature were leaked on March 3.
Following the incident, the university Syndicate on March 5 rejected the recruitment board's recommendations.
Later, the two officials were served show-cause notices and Khaled Misbahul Mokar was transferred to another department.
