Religious Affairs Advisor Dr A F M Khalid Hossain has commented on irregularities in the construction of model mosques across the country during the Awami League government.
He stated that there have been widespread allegations of irregularities in the construction of model mosques nationwide. In some cases, cracks have appeared on mosque walls even before their inauguration. There are also complaints about the use of substandard construction materials at many locations.
He assured that those responsible for the irregularities will be brought to justice based on the investigation committee's report, emphasizing that there will be no leniency for wrongdoers.
Dr Khalid Hossain made these remarks during the distribution of relief supplies to flood-affected individuals at Noakhali High School, following his visit to flood-affected areas in Noakhali.
Regarding the flood situation in Noakhali, he noted that although floodwaters are beginning to recede, waterlogging remains a problem in the city.
He observed stagnant water in front of the Circuit House and acknowledged that waterlogging has been a long-standing issue in Noakhali, primarily due to illegal constructions.
He further stated that many leaders have illegally occupied canals and ditches to build farms and shops. These illegal structures need to be removed; otherwise, the waterlogging issue in Noakhali will persist. He has informed the district commissioner about this and hopes for prompt action to remove the illegal constructions.
The event was attended by Noakhali District Commissioner Dewan Mahbubur Rahman, Additional District Magistrate Muhammad Ismail, Additional Police Superintendent (Crime and Ops) Md. Ibrahim, and other senior officials, along with leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
