A 14-year-old boy drowned in the Garai River after being hit by a train while taking a selfie on the Kumarkhali rail bridge in Kushtia on Friday.
The deceased is Sami Hossain, a seventh-grader at the local MN High School.
Quamruzzaman Talukdar, officer-in-charge of Kumarkhali police station, said Sami and his three friends went to the Kumarkhali rail bridge at around 5pm for taking selfies. "He fell into the river as the train hit him."
All his friends managed to escape unhurt.
Upon receiving the information, divers from the Khulna Fire Service rushed to the spot and fished out the body at around 10pm.
