Two people, including a rider of Pathao, a ridesharing service, were run over on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway of the Airport Road in Dhaka early on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Kajal Akter, 35, and Rafiqul Islam Chowdhury Sumon, 40, the Pathao rider.
Jewel Mia, sub-inspector (SI) at Airport police station, said the accident occurred around 4pm when an unknown vehicle hit the motorbike, leaving them dead on the spot.
Kajal used to live with her mother and two children in Khilgaon area after getting divorced from her husband.
Meanwhile, Rafiqul used to live in the Tati Bazar area of the capital with his wife and two children.
Upon receiving the information, police recovered the two bodies and sent them to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue.
Efforts are on to identify the vehicle and arrest its driver, said the police officer.
