Police have arrested a man over allegations of raping a 15-year-old madrasa student in Barisal’s Banaripara Upazila.
Hridoy Hawlader, 20, was arrested from the Launch Ghat area early Tuesday, confirmed Banaripara police station Officer-in-Charge Helal Uddin.
A court sent him to jail when he was presented before it by the police on Tuesday.
According to the OC, the man threatened the girl and raped her on Monday night when her parents were not home.
The survivor’s parents got to know of the matter when they came back. Later, they filed a case with the police.
The girl was sent to the one-stop crisis centre at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
