A motorcyclist and its passenger were killed when they collided head-on with a motorized cart, locally known as “Bhotbhoti”, in Naogaon on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Pinaki Sarkar, 32, and Shariful Islam, 37.
Shahinur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manda Police Station, said the duo were on their way to Rajshahi around 12:30pm when the motorcycle collided head-on with the cart that left from Sabaihat.
Pinaki and Shariful fell on the road and died on the spot due to severe head injuries.
OC Shahinur Rahman said: "The driver of the cart fled immediately after the incident, he could not be apprehended. However, the vehicle has been seized."
