At least three people sustained injuries on Thursday in a clash between supporters of two chairman candidates of Khagaria Union Parishad election in Satkania upazila of Chittagong.
The clash broke out between the supporters of Awami League nominated candidate Aktar Hossain and independent candidate Jashim Uddin around 12:30pm at Jorarkul area, said Md Shibli Noman, Additional Superintendent of Police in Satkania circle.
“Already a team of police has been sent to the area. The number of injured may increase,” he said.
On Wednesday 18 chairman candidates of Khagaria UP polls in Satkania upazila were expelled from South District AL for going against the party’s decision.
Seventh phase UP polls in 16 Unions in Satkania upazila are set to be held on February 7.
