At least six more people have died of Covid-19 at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) in the last 24 hours.
Five of the deceased tested positive for the virus, while the other died with symptoms only, Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, spokesperson of the hospital’s Covid unit, said on Friday.
In the last 24 hours, 45 new Covid-19 patients were admitted to the hospital while 36 were released. Currently, 168 patients are undergoing treatment in the hospital – 106 in the red zone, 25 in the yellow zone, 20 in high dependency units (HDU), and 17 in intensive care unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, after testing 562 samples, the KMC rt-PCR lab reported 222 new Covid-19 cases in a single day, said Khulna Medical College Vice Principal Dr Mehedi Newaz on Thursday night.
Of the newly infected, 151 hailed from Khulna metropolis and district, 42 from Bagerhat, 14 from Jessore, seven from Satkhira, five from Narail, and one each from Jhenaidah, Pirojpur and Barisal districts.
The Covid-19 detection rate at KMC was 39.50% on Thursday.
