1 killed in Narsingdi road accident

The accident left the passenger of the motorcycle severely injured

A man has been killed and another injured after the motorcycle they were riding collided head-on with a battery operated auto-rickshaw in Narshingdi’s Raipura upazila.

The accident happened in Koraitala rail crossing area under Chanderkandi union of the upazila around 7pm on Thursday.

The deceased is Russell Ahammed, 32, son of Joynal Abedin from Babunagar village in Shimulkandi union under Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj district. He had a clothing business in a supermarket in Bhairab town.

Raipura police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mostafa confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

According to police and locals, the accident left Russell dead on the spot while the passenger of the motorcycle, Habibur Rahman, 34, got severely injured. Locals rushed Habibur to a nearby hospital where he is undergoing treatment now.

Police have recovered Russell’s body and will soon send it for autopsy.

“An investigation is underway,“ said Golam Mostafa.
