Road accidents kill 7 in Sylhet, Natore

Seven people were killed across three road accidents in Sylhet and Natore on Thursday. Four people were killed and four others injured in two of the accidents, at Osmani Nagar and Jointapur upazilas of Sylhet in the early hours of Thursday. Three people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a “Shyamali Paribahan” bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the Goalabazar area of Osmani Nagar upazila, said Osmani Nagar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) M Sahid Ullah as quoted by BSS. The injured were sent to a local hospital. The deceased were identified as Askandar Ali, 55, Mangal Mia, 19, and Ali Hossain, 24. All of them are the residents of Osmani Nagar upazila. Meanwhile, a man identified as Saiful Islam, 45, was killed as a bus hit his bicycle in the Damri area of Jointapur upazila, said Samiul Kabir, OC of Jointapur police station. Subsequently, on Thursday afternoon, three people were killed when a truck steered into a ditch in the Koyenbazar area of Baraigram upazila in Natore, reports our Natore correspondent M Kamal Mridha. Banpara highway police station OC GM Shamsun Nur said that the empty truck was travelling from Natore to Pabna at around 2.15pm, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and steered into the ditch. The deceased were identified as Hafizur Rahman, 20, son of Habibur Rahman, Al Mamun, 22, son of Rafiqul Islam, and Al Amin, 22, son of Aftab Ali. All of the three hail from Islampur of Pabna sadar upazila. OC Shamsun added that the three where suspected to be labourers of the truck, while the driver had gone in to hiding following the accident.
