Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) said a Malaysian woman was abandoned at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport by her Bangladeshi husband who also took her passport with him. Nur Sohafa, 45 was visiting her husband Md Lavlu’s village in Faridpur for a month and was scheduled to leave for Malaysia on Saturday night when he disappeared from the airport carrying Sohafa’s passport and other documents with him. Patenga Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdul Kashem told the Dhaka Tribune: “The woman was walking around the airport aimlessly when Immigration Police took her aside for questioning and was told her passport had gone missing along with her husband. Police on Sunday sent Sohafa to court seeking directives regarding safe custody, added the OC. “She does not know the exact address of her husband’s village home. The couple arrived in Bangladesh a month ago and was scheduled to leave on June 30 for Malaysia. They have been married for five years.” Police is trying to locate her husband, the OC added.
