The Sylhet police sub-inspector (SI) who was sacked over child prostitution and narcotics charges in 2019 has again been arrested with yaba pills and cash.
Sylhet Kotwali Model police station arrested the former APBn officer Rokon Uddin Bhuiyan, 42, Rima Begum, 42 – a woman pretending to be his wife – along with Jasim Uddin, 24, Fahim Shahriar, 41, and Farid Ahmed, 45.
They were held during a drive in the Chandrima Residential Area in Subid Bazar of Sylhet city on Monday, according to Sylhet Kotwali Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Abu Farhad.
He said: “We conducted the drive on a tip-off. Altogether five people were held. We also seized 185 yaba pills and Tk82,300 from their possession.
“A case under the Narcotics Control Act will be filed against them.”
Earlier on January 27, 2019, RAB arrested Rokon and Rima on charges of forcing children into prostitution.
The elite force personnel made the arrest in Dariapara of Sylhet. They also rescued two young girls aged 12 and 13.
RAB-9 Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Md Moniruzzaman said: “Acting on a tip-off, RAB raided the flat Rokon was occupying. Realizing that we were there, Rokon and Rima tried to make a getaway.
“However, we succeeded in detaining them. We rescued two children and recovered 600 yaba pills from the spot.”
