4 killed, 14 injured in Gopalganj road accident

A Dhaka-bound Dola Paribahan bus from Pirojpur's Najirpur was trying to overtake another vehicle when the accident occured

At least 4 people were killed and 14 others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Gopalganj on Saturday.

The accident occurred in Malek Bazar area on the Gopalganj-Pirojpur road in Tungipara upazila around 11am, confirmed Tungipara police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AFM Nasim.

Three among the deceased have been identified as Sanjit Dhar, 40, of Batikamari village in Muksudpur upazila; Krishna Kirtania, 32, of Hog Dumuria village in Tungipara and Akamuddin Molla, 50, of Nilfa village in Tungipara.

The identity of another deceased is yet to be ascertained.

OC Nasim said a Dhaka-bound Dola Paribahan bus from Pirojpur's Najirpur,  while trying to overtake another vehicle, fell into a roadside ditch killing four people on the spot.

Locals, police and members of Fire Service have admitted 14 critically injured patients to Gopalganj 250 bed General Hospital, the OC added.
