Tourist dies falling from hotel balcony in Cox's Bazar

He was staying at a room on the 8th-floor of the hotel

A tourist has died after falling off the balcony of his eighth-floor hotel room in Cox’s Bazar.

The deceased, Babu Sheikh, 20, had been vacationing, along with 50 others since Tuesday,  at Sea Classic Resort in the Kolatoli area, said his brother Abdullah Al Asif. 

“Babu was staying at Room no 802 on the eighth-floor and fell off from his balcony around 6pm Wednesday,” he said.

Immediately Babu was taken to a nearby hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead, the victim’s brother said.

Dr Ashiqur Rahman, on-duty doctor of Cox’s Bazar’s Sadar Hospital, said: “We did not find any critical wounds on his body. However, the actual cause of his death will be known after an autopsy.”

Confirming the incident, Md Selim, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model police station, said: “We visited the spot. Further comments will be made after receiving the autopsy report.”
