Chittagong-based journalist Golam Sarwar, who was found after remaining missing for nearly four days, has lodged a case at Kotwali police station against six unnamed people.

Jubayer Siddiqui, Sarwar’s senior colleague and assistant editor of weekly Ajker Surjodoy, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.

In the case documents, Sarwar mentioned that he was tortured after being abducted for writing news and the abductors also demanded Tk50,000 as ransom.

Earlier in the day, Sarwar was discharged from Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Later he held a press conference, where he said that the abductors severely tortured him for writing news.

After being missing for nearly four days, Sarwar was found lying unconscious next to a canal near Kumira Bazar in Sitakunda on Sunday.

Sarwar had gone missing on October 28 after he left his Battery Lane residence in the port city that night.

His family said they had been unable to trace him since then and his phone was switched off.

Jubayer had also filed a general diary with Kotwali police the same day.
