Warning people about a possible second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in winter, Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Administrator Khorshed Alam Sujon has cautioned the public on the drawbacks of not wearing protective gear in public.
He said that anyone found not wearing protective masks in public places and on public transport would be fined through mobile courts.
The CCC Administrator was speaking at a meeting at Nagar Bhaban with departmental heads and engineers of the corporation on Tuesday.
“The coronavirus situation may take a turn for the worse if we do not become aware from now on,” he said.
Khorshed Alam also referred to other programs the CCC has taken up to eliminate all kinds of contagious diseases from the city corporation area.
He added: “The conservancy department of the corporation will soon undertake a crash programme to destroy the breeding grounds of mosquitoes in the city so that the citizens do not get infected with dengue or malaria.”
