Aiming to speed up the conservancy work in the port city, Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) authorities have procured three modern road sweeping trucks from the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives.
The CCC Administrator Khorshed Alam Sujon formally inaugurated the cleanliness program at the city’s Dewanhat and GEC intersections on Wednesday with the newly procured sweeping trucks.
The CCC Administrator said that sweeping activities will be much easier with the induction of the new sweeping trucks.
“The sweeping trucks will offload garbage at the convenient spots. There the vehicles can be washed with water after offloading garbage. The drivers of the corporation have already been trained to drive the trucks,” said he.
Sujon also thanked the Prime Minister and the LGRD Minister for providing the CCC with the modern trucks.
Imported from Italy, each of the trucks is capable of sweeping a stretch of 12-km road. The trucks are equipped with water tanks for spraying water, if required.
The capacity of the truck is equivalent to the work of 20 cleaning staff. Around 3,000 cleaning staff of the corporation are tasked with keeping the port city clean.
