Semantic, a voluntary organisation in Sylhet is going to install two more PCR Labs to manage the rising pressure of samples for Covid-19 test in the division.

The labs will be set up at the Semantic Centre in Sylhet city and Habiganj Medical College Hospital, confirmed Dr Anisur Rahman, director of Health Department of Sylhet.

The existing two labs can examine 500 samples a day and it is hardly adequate in comparison to the large population of the district, said Dr Ahmad Al Kabir, a patron of Semantic and founder of Research, Training and Management International.

“Supported by the health ministry and researchers of the district we decided to install the two labs so that people of the locality can easily get their test results in due time,” said the benefactor of the voluntary organisation.

At least 11,889 people tested positive for the virus and 203 of them died from the deadly virus till Sunday 8am.
