Police recovered the dead body of a woman from her bedroom in Uttarpara village of Jadobpur union in Dhaka’s Dhamrai upazila on Friday morning.
The deceased identified as Julekha Akhtar, 25 was the wife of Mehedi Hasan. Police detained Mehedi for interrogation.
Confirming the matter, Dhamrai police station Officer-in-Charge Azharul Islam, said police sent the dead body to Dhaka’s Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
“We could not confirm the reason of death during inquest report despite a black mark being found on the neck of the dead body. We have detained the deceased’s husband Mehedi for interrogation. A case will be filed.” he added.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s husband Mehedi, said that he suddenly woke up at 1:45am and saw Julekha leaning to a file cabinet and there was a scarf wrapped around her neck. He called the other members of his family and they found Julekha dead.”
However, contradicting Mehedi’s version, his father in law Jashim Uddin Mondol, claimed: “There was dispute between my daughter and her husband’s family members. They have murdered my daughter in a planned way and tried to pass it off as a suicide.”
He demanded justice.
