Family members of the victims of the Narayanganj mosque blast demanded jobs and compensation for their families, on Tuesday.

Distraught family members of the victims held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon at the Sabujbagh grounds in West Fatullah.

As everyone present broke into tears, the son of the imam of the mosque, a victim of the tragic incident, spoke on behalf of everyone.

He demanded the government provide jobs to the children of the victims’ families, old-age allowances to the elderly, and compensation of Tk50 lac to each victim family.

Fahimul Islam, son of Imam Maulana Abdul Malek Nesari, said: “We demand the government  provide employment to those who have lost their relatives so that they don’t have to seek assistance elsewhere.”

Meanwhile, widespread speculation that the Narayanganj mosque explosion was caused by gas leaking from an underground pipeline has been found to be true. Earlier, police had said if the investigation proves anyone's involvement, they would be arrested in the case.
