Two teenagers have committed suicide in Naogaon and Faridpur following dispute with parents.
Arifa Khatun, daughter of one Shahin Mia, hanged herself in her parents' house in Naogaon's Atrai upazila allegedly over a tiff with her mother around 12:30pm Saturday.
Arifa, 13, was a sixth grader at Jaysarha High School.
Atrai police station Officer-in-Charge Badruddoza said: “The girl took her life after her mother scolded her over household chores.”
Meanwhile, 12-year-old Shahin of Faridpur's Bhanga upazila took insecticide to commit suicide after his parents berated him on Friday over academic issues.
Shahin, son of one Mowla Mia of the area, was a class VI student of Pirerchar High School.
The boy took the insecticide on Friday afternoon and was rushed to a local hospital where he died the same night.
His body was sent to the morgue of Faridpur Medical College for an autopsy.
In another development, a madrasa teacher Saturday committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree close to his house in Barisal's Babuganj upazila.
Police said family feud might have forced Abdul Barek Mollah, 55, to the self-killing.
His wife Rozain Begum said that they had found his hanging body in the dead end of the night and then informed the police about the matter.
