At least three day labourers were killed in a road accident in Matidali area of Bogra district on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Rasidul Islam, 50, son of Kiram Mondol of Kamarkhandi village in Bogra Sadar, Abu Zafar, 45, son of Abu Tahaer of Telihara village and Ajgar Ali, 45, son of Jaladu Sheikh of Khamar Pangachi village in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha.
Quoting loclas, police said the accident took place around 6.30am, when a pick-up van from Bogra town skidded off the road and ploughed through six labourers. The labourers were waiting for potential work on the roadside in front of Bogra Sadar Upazila Parishad Office.
All of the six injured were sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in critical condition where three of them died.
Bogra Sadar police station officer-in-charge Humayun Kabir confirmed the incident.
“We are trying to arrest the pick-up van driver,” said the OC.
