Members of all law enforcement agencies in Moulvibazar are on high alert following intelligence that Regent Group owner Md Shahed may leave the country crossing the border.

Several check posts were set up on the Moulvibazar- Chatlapur road in Kulaura upazila and vehicles plying the road are being checked thoroughly since Monday evening.

Confirming the matter, Shamshernagar police station Inspector Arup Kumar Choudhury said: "On a tipoff, we came to know that Shahed may cross over to Tripura state in India at the Chatlapur border." So, we are checking vehicles."

On July 7, RAB filed a case against Shahed and 16 other staff of Regent Group and Regent hospitals after a mobile court found proof that the hospital authorities issued fake Covid-19 certificates and charged patients for tests and treatment, violating an agreement with the government.

Shahed has been on the run since law enforcement started raiding his organizations.
