Police on Sunday recovered the dead bodies of a married couple from their room in Darijagi village of Sadar upazila, Netrokona.
The deceased were identified as Nure Alom Uzzal, 40, and his wife Rubi Akhtar,32, said Netrokona Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) SM Ashraful Alom.
Uzzal's mother Zahera Khatun said the couple were found dead when she went to the room to wake them up at around 7am on Sunday.
"Uzzal was hanging from the ceiling fan and Rubi was lying dead on the bed, with a napkin wrapped around her throat." said Zahera.
Quoting locals, SM Ashraful Alom, additional superintendent of police, said Uzzal divorced his first wife after 17 years as they had been childless. He later married his cousin Rubi.
"Uzzal borrowed a large sum of money from various NGOs and people to build a house." Ashraful Alom said. "We suspect Uzzal might have committed suicide after killing his wife Rubi in a marital conflict."
He said the bodies were sent to Netrokona Sadar Hospital for autopsy and police are investigating the deaths.
