A young man took his own life by jumping off a building thinking that he has been infected with coronavirus in Boalkhali upazila of Chittagong on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Sumon Dewanzi, 36, son of Tuntu Dewanji of Hari Choukidar Kadhurkhil area of the upazila, according to UNB.
Mrinal Kanti Biswas Titu, a member of Kadhurkhil union Parishad, said Sumon on Friday night told his wife that he might have infected with Covid-19 and requested his wife and other family members to keep distance from him.
Later, his family members decided to take him to a hospital for coronavirus testing on Saturday morning.
But Sumon went to the 5thfloor rooftop of Jalil Ambia College and jumped off the building.
The health authorities have confirmed 63,026 coronavirus cases with the detection of 2,635 new cases across the country while 35 more patients died from COVID-19 during the same period, raising the death toll to 846.
