Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel’s mother and former mayor of Chittagong city ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury’s wife Hasina Mohiuddin has been tested positive for Covid-19.
The case was confirmed after her sample was tested at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) on Tuesday.
Two domestic help, who worked at her residence, also tested positive for Covid-19 the same day.
Sources at the Chittagong Civil Surgeon office confirmed the matter.
Previously on May 10, Borhanul Hasan Chowdhury Salehin, the younger brother of the deputy minister, tested positive for Covid-19.
Chittagong district has recorded a total of 419 cases of Covid-19 infection thus far.
In the whole of Bangladesh, coronavirus has infected 16,660 people and killed 250 people so far.
