Additional Inspector General of Police (Dhaka range) and head of the investigation committee Mohammad Ali confirmed the time extension to reporters on Wednesday.
Local youth Faruk, who raped the girl, has not been arrested yet.
Police chief AKM Shahidul Hoque had formed the four-member investigation committee on May 3.
