16 houses locked down after man dies from fever, cough in Sherpur

So far, no patient has tested positive for the new coronavirus in the district

Local administration on Thursday put 16 houses under lockdown after the death of a man from fever and cough at Satpakia Moddhyopara village in Sherpur Sadar upazila.

The 42-year old man used to sell pigeons in the area, reports UNB.

Quoting family members, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Firoze Al Mamun said the man had been suffering from fever for the last two to three days and his condition deteriorated on Wednesday night.

He died at 6am on Thursday while the health officials collected samples from his body, he added.

Local administration put 16 houses under lockdown after the death, the UNO said.

Civil Surgeon Dr AKM Anwarul Rouf, said none of 30 samples found positive for coronavirus until Wednesday in the district.

Twelve more samples were sent for testing on Thursday, he said adding that two women still at hospital isolation are doing well.
