Three more people tested positive for Covid-19 in Chittagong on Wednesday, taking the number of confirmed cases in the port city to five.
The patients were aged between 40 and 50 years.
Detection of new cases prompted the local administration to put eight houses and three shops under lockdown, said Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir, divisional director of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on Wednesday night.
The trio's infection was confirmed after their samples were tested at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) on Wednesday.
On April 5, a 25-year-old man tested positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by a new strain of the coronavirus.
Two days before, the youth’s 67-year-old father had tested positive, it the first confirmed case in the port city.
