Mongla Port Authority has quarantined three Filipino sailors in their ship on suspicion of being infected with coronavirus on Thursday.
The sailors came on a coal-laden ship from Indonesia on Wednesday.
Harbour Master of Mongla Port Authority Commander Faker Uddin has confirmed the matter.
The ship named MV SERENITAS N, carrying the flag of Marshall Islands, is now anchored at Harbaria area of the port.
According to port authority, the trio tested negative for coronavirus after primary inspection, however they are still being kept in separate rooms of the ship as a precautionary measure.
There are 20 foreign nationals serving in the ship and all of them have been asked not to disembark from the ship.
Additionally,the port authority has stopped unloading goods from the ship and ordered Bangladeshi labourers to leave the ship.
Port Health Department Officer Sufiya Khatun said: "Three crew members of the ship MV Severnitas N were diagnosed with fever, but we did not find coronavirus in their body."
She also said there are no reasons to panic over this issue.
